What was your journey before joining vPlan?
"After finishing high school, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in Enschede. During the final year of my studies, I had a part-time job at VerzuimSignaal, where I continued to work. In between, I did my internship at Unit4, who were co-owners of VerzuimSignaal at the time. After successfully completing my internship at Unit4, I returned to VerzuimSignaal. After almost 8 years at VerzuimSignaal, I felt it was time for a new and exciting challenge."
How long have you been working at vPlan? "I've been working here for almost 3 years now. This was shortly after the inception of vPlan."
Where do you derive the most energy from?
"I derive the most energy from new developments that are well received by customers. It's rewarding when you can create a great development together, but it's even more satisfying when customers use it effectively. Sometimes, small changes are worth it if they significantly improve how customers work with vPlan."
What do you find most challenging about your work?
"What I find really challenging in my work is coming up with solutions that are technically sound and also work well for the customer. All customers use the same system, vPlan, so changes in vPlan have an impact on everyone, which is crucial to consider. Additionally, we must also think about the maintainability of the solution."
If colleagues had to describe you in 3 words, what would those words be?
"You'd better ask my colleagues :) But if I were to describe myself in 3 words, they would be: helpful, collaborative, and optimistic."
What do you enjoy doing most in your free time?
"During the summer periods, I love to be active in sports. Every year, I participate in a few triathlons, not the full one, of course, that's a bit too much for me. Last year in Holten, I participated in the Olympic distance (1500m swim, 40km bike, and 10km run). This year, I've also signed up for a few triathlons. Additionally, I occasionally join running races."
"Besides sports, I also enjoy music festivals. In recent years, I've always been to a major festival. Some bands I really like are: Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Nothing But Thieves, and De Staat."
"Besides festivals and sports, I also enjoy traveling. I've almost visited all continents. Last year, I went to South Africa, it was amazing to see all those animals in the wild. Luckily, there are still plenty of beautiful places on my bucket list. New Zealand is very high on my list."
