To provide a clear explanation of the new functionality, let's first examine the existing methodology for planning cards from the backlog. In the backlog, you can create all your work to be planned in cards. These cards are filled with activities.
Existing Methodology
Depending on your setup, one card is created per phase. Within these cards, multiple activities can potentially take place. When you open a card, you'll also see that multiple activities are present. The above example will result in three cards being created during planning, one card per phase.
New Methodology: Splitting Cards by Activity
Alright! What's now possible in addition to this existing method? You can plan the same card on the board, where instead of creating one card per phase, it creates a separate card for each activity! Below, you'll see the result.
This new way of planning is useful when you, for instance, deal with specific activities that need to be performed by a specific role/employee. This way, you can assign the right person to the right activity.
