In addition to individual planning of employees and/or machines, many companies also plan on a more global level. Capacity is then not determined per individual employee or machine but added together by a collection of multiple resources. This way of determining capacity is mainly found in companies with a lot of employees and where there is a lot of fluctuation in availability. We call this in vPlan: collective capacity.
Previously, vPlan only allowed the capacity of a phase to be determined by linking individual resources to it. In the plan offer you now have three choices:
- No capacity
- Individual capacity (as you were used to)
- Collective capacity (new!)
How does collective capacity work?
In the settings of the scheduling board, in the Configuration tab, you first set the Capacity to Collective. You will see a new overview in which you determine the standard capacity for each type of capacity (employees, machines and/or rooms).
You determine per day the number of hours per resource and the number of available resources. From here you can make a distribution of the resources per phase. The number of hours times the number of resources determines the capacity.
In addition to the collective capacity, we have developed a new much-needed functionality at the front: Day Capacity.
If your setting is based on Collective Capacity, you can easily and quickly adjust the number of resources in the daily capacity. In this way, you can always determine the right deployment per day at lightning speed and see the total daily capacity per day.
Again a great solution for many companies. On to more great developments!
