You might be familiar with this situation: you're busy planning projects within the timeline, but you keep switching between different dimensions to see which employee has space in the schedule. With our new Workload feature, this is a thing of the past. We'll show you how it works and how to use it.

New: 'Workload'

Open your schedule in the timeline. Activate the workload view by clicking the 'workload' icon in the top left of the timeline. You will immediately see the capacity overview, displaying all remaining or scheduled hours in percentages or hours. Then, decide whether you want to view the capacity per stage, group, or employee.

How to Use 'Workload' Smartly

Planning Construction Projects Across Departments

You're planning a construction project. The first thing you do is create a project within vPlan and place it in the timeline. Next, you want to schedule the project with different people, such as a carpenter, plasterer, and painter. You open the workload view, choose the 'resources' dimension, and see exactly where there is still availability per employee. This allows you to easily plan the project based on available capacity.

Efficient Project Planning per Employee

You work on projects at an accounting firm. Within the organisation, there are various teams, including tax, audit, and advisory groups. Although projects are scheduled at the employee level, it's important to distribute the work well across the team. You achieve this by scheduling projects at the resource level in the timeline and using the workload view to see how full the teams (groups) are. This helps you create a balanced workload, considering both individual and group capacities.

Production Planning with Multiple Stages

You are working on an order that goes through different stages, such as preparation, production, and assembly. In the first stage, you review the order and assign a resource. Before doing this, you check within 'workload' to ensure the employee is actually available. This prevents you from assigning resources that are almost fully booked, leading to a smoother and more efficient workflow through all stages.

With the Workload feature, you not only gain insight into the current capacity planning but can also proactively anticipate future workload. This makes project planning not only easier but also much more effective. Try it yourself and experience how this new feature and all the other new functionalities can improve your workflow.
